With so many good restaurants around town it’s a wonder if Melbourne can get any more delicious. Likely it can, here’s how.
Kong is coming. That’s the new instalment from the folks behind Chin Chin and Baby Pizza and we can’t wait to see them try their hands at Korean BBQ. April
Supernormal is on the way. If it’s anything like the pop-up canteen Andrew McConnell used to test out the concept and the menu, it will be one to check out. May
If Emporium Melbourne ever opens, it will have itself its very own Jimmy Grants. The second instalment of George Calombaris’ gourmet souvlaki bar will be a great one for city lunches. May
For coffee and doughnuts keep an eye out for Shortstop. Anthony Ivey of Doughboys and Market Lane Coffee should have this place ticking shortly on Sutherland Street, right near Melbourne Central. May/June
The Botanic Gardens’ Observatory Café is about to be made over by none other than Shannon Bennett of Vue de Monde. ‘Jardin Tan’ will boast a French-Viet style menu that should go down very nicely in the area. June
...and one to really get excited about: Heston Blumenthal is soon to relocate his entire three-Michelin-starred Fat Duck staff to Melbourne to set up the Melbourne instalment. That’s a team of 60 to 70 in total and it’s kind of a big deal. Feb 2015
These are just a little taste of what’s in store. On Localing tours we always like to show off our favourite local eateries. As all our tours are tailored, we can make it all about the city's food and drink if it's where your interest lie.
