Meet Hugo, a born and bred Melbournian who’s been a huge part of the Localing team for over four years. Growing up in this city has led Hugo to discover its many charms and develop a passion for showing off the city to guests. “It’s a city that has so many amazing things to offer, a city that you need to explore and discover – it reveals itself to you over time”.
So who better to give you the ultimate Melbourne experience than someone who has spent their life uncovering the best spots?
For a true Melbourne brunch, Hugo takes his guests to one of his favourite places, Top Paddock in Richmond or Kettle Black in South Melbourne. Then it’s time to jump into the city, where he likes sharing the sights unique to Melbourne, such as street art in ACDC lane and Duckboard Place, and “contrasting that whole experience with our beautiful arcades like the Royal Arcade and the Block Arcade”. According to Hugo, it “gives this really amazing overview of Melbourne and who we are here”.
You’ll need to keep your energy up with all this exploring, so you’ll “stop for a bite to eat, maybe some dumplings from Shanghai or ShanDon MaMa” to refuel. The city is renowned for its multicultural cuisine, and Hugo will be sure to give you the ultimate foodie tour if that’s what you’re after. From authentic Italian in Lygon Street through to the dynamic inner-suburbs of Fitzroy and Collingwood and across the city to St. Kilda, there’s something for everyone in Melbourne.
“I love being able to show off my city, and being able to do it in a way where the guests are really guiding us as towards what their ideal day is, and where I’m just the architect of that day. I’m putting all the pieces together, showing them my favourite bits of the city, showing them what their interests are in Melbourne, and revealing a whole side to the city that they wouldn’t have found on their own”.
