Luca in front of bushland by the Yarra River.
Meet Luca, our local guide, who specialises in Italian and Spanish speaking tours. Originally from Italy, Luca made the move to Melbourne seven years ago, where he chose to turn his passion for travel and his love for his new hometown into a full time job. “Being a tour guide is something that takes you out of the office. It’s an amazing opportunity to be around people, while showing them such beautiful places”. His favourite places to go? Definitely the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula! Why? “The countryside and wine are reminiscent of my hometown near Tuscany”.
Although he loves our regional tours, he says there are still “so many secret spots to visit in the city”. One of his favourites is Hardware Lane, “which has lots of little cafes and the fact that it’s completely paved in red bricks, it feels like you’ve stepped back time. I think it makes a nice contrast to see since Melbourne is such a modern city”.
Why does he love working for Localing? “It’s something different, it’s not a scheduled tour, the clock isn’t ticking, and we are able to be very adaptable”.
“I like being a tour guide, because it’s dynamic. The office becomes the Twelve Apostles or the Yarra Valley, and there’s nothing better than that”.
